Local publicans in Westport gathered on the Fairgreen to launch a great community initiative Pride in our Pavement. The idea is simple – encouraging all retailers and businesses in Westport to sweep outside their premises. Patrick (Sticks) Joyce outside who’s bar hosted the launch was held said ‘If everyone took a brush everyday and swept outside their front door, it would make a huge difference. The volunteers of Westport Tidy Towns do an amazing job, you see them at all times, with their litter pickers, spades and brushes. This initiative by all our fellow bar managers is our small contribution to the Tidy Town’s work, which should make a noticeable difference’.
Any business that would like to receive a ‘Pride in own Pavement’ window sticker should contact Westport Tidy Town Organisation or Westport Chamber of Commerce at the Leeson Enterprise Centre.
Eithne Larkin, Chairperson of Westport Tidy Towns Organisation, encourages all retail business in the town centre and at Westport Quay to take part. Ms. Larkin expressed her thanks to all the vintners for their interest in taking great pride in their town, she further expressed her gratitude to the Chamber of Commerce for their support.
